Cartoon Family Portraits

While living with some friends in a flat in 2021 I had the idea to draw us in a “Simpsons” style portrait on the couch for fun. My loved ones especially seem to enjoy them almost as much as I enjoyed making them and since then I have done a few more portraits as gifts for family. I never anticipated any interest leading to making more than one but I put a lot of love into each one and thoroughly enjoy making them. I would love the opportunity to do more of these in the future!

The “Stamfords”

This was the first of what would turn into a series of Simpsons inspired family portraits. This is myself and the friends I lived with at the time along with our two cats (one of whom was about to be adopted as a tiny kitten) and pet mouse. The name is borrowed from the street our flat was on seeing as I thought the sharing of an “S” in the title with the inspiration would be funny. Created in Paint Tool Sai 2021.

The Speers

This was the second of the series so far and a gift for my Dad after he expressed interest in having one of our family. Created in Paint Tool Sai 2021.

The Ramsays 2022

This one was obviously a rather ambitious attempt on my part and done a little differently in order to make it possible too. This was a gift for my grandparents showing our entire extended family to the best of my ability. Each individual characture was drawn traditionally with fineliner and spirit marker on paper then Photoshopped together at the end to create one cohesive picture. Also includes the NZ flag in the background with a cheeky additional star hanging out to respresent those of us in Australia.
